The Charlotte Starz are one of the region's most respected travel fastpitch organizations, offering competitve travel-ball programs for young ladies of all ages.  Unlike many community programs which have to dispurse aspiring college athletes around the time they turn 14, the Starz seemlessly integrate our widely-recognized college showcase program for those players who possess the talent, desire, and work ethic that will allow them the opportunity to compete in college.  In just two short years since it's inception, our showcase program has helped players land the opportunity to play fastpitch softball at outstanding universities including:

North Carolina Elon Barton Gardner-Webb
Wingate Winston-Salem State Virginia Tech

There's a lot happening with the Starz this fall as we enter our tenth consecutive year, one of the longest active runs of any organization in the region. With the recent addition of two new teams, including our first in the Triangle of North Carolina, along with a brand new coaching staff for our 14-U Gold Futures, we plan to field 6 teams this fall in age groups ranging from 10 to 18.

Starz 16-U Showcase

Veteran travel ball coach John Johnson, one of the founders of the Starz organization, is excited to be leading our 16-U Showcase team into action this fall.  Coach Johnson was instrumental in the formation of our showcase program and remains active with our 18-U Elite team.

Starz 18-U Elite

Coach Steve Foster is proud to lead the Starz flagship 18-U Elite team, which has helped 8 players gain the opportunity to play in college since its inception just 2 short years ago.

Although each club possesses its own unique identity, players, and missions, together they share the common vision of placing player development, character growth, and team success as their primary mission.

The Starz, began as a single 8-and-under team formed in May, 2006 by then President and organization founder Ashley Davis with a core group of young players from his highly-successful West Mecklenburg Athletic Association 9U team. To this group, they carefully blended talented players from several north Charlotte associations, including Huntersville (HYAA), Mallard Creek (MCAA), and Odell (ORSA). Their goal was to create a hard-hitting team showcasing great team speed and solid defense which would be ready to compete at championship levels in local tournaments. In only their second tournament, the original Starz 8U team took the Championship of the NSA Super One Day Madness in Statesville, North Carolina.

The Starz are eager to add teams in the 8-U, 10, and 12-U age groups and would consider either a start-up team with the right coach or an existing team looking for the advantages available through our organization, including:

  • Fully qualified tax-exempt 501(c)3 corporation
  • Centralized accounting and banking
  • Complete documentation to protect both the coaching staffs and players
  • Standardized uniform and equipment packages
  • Better access to players and facilities
  • State-of-the-art website, complete with player and team statistics tracking
  • The opportunity to roll the ball out there and go play

We invite you join us and see how our Starz roll!
